Abstract
This paper evaluates the applicability of five numerical models for reinforced concrete (RC) frame elements in seismic performance assessment. The models' accuracy in predicting initial stiffness, peak strength, and energy dissipation capacity is assessed using 320 experimental results from the PEER column database. A parametric study on a cantilever RC column under earthquake excitation further investigates the models' impact on maximum inelastic responses. The study reveals that model accuracy is sensitive to the shear force demand-capacity ratio, suggesting specific model choices for shear-critical structures with short periods. Statistical parameters for each model are provided for probabilistic seismic performance assessment.
